FAQ
Are all AYA&IDA products food safe?
Yes, our products intended for food contact are independently tested based on relevant European requirements as well as German LFGB legislation and BfR recommendations. The tests are tailored to the materials and intended use of each product, and the results document that the tested products comply with the relevant migration limits and requirements for food contact materials.
Why 18/8 stainless steel?
We have chosen 18/8 stainless steel because of its durability, corrosion resistance, and suitability for contact with many different types of food and beverages.
Its suitability for food contact has also been tested through laboratory testing in accordance with LFGB standards. The tests use different food simulants representing, among other things, water-based and acidic contents as well as fatty and oily foods. This allows the material to be tested under different relevant conditions to document that it is suitable for its intended use.
Can I repair my product?
Yes. If your product – or the damaged part – is listed as repairable in our Care Guide, and the damage means that the product or part has lost or significantly reduced its functionality, we can send you a replacement part through our AYA&IDA Care repair service. You only pay for shipping.
Our products are made to be used, and normal signs of use such as minor dents and scratches do not generally affect the functionality of the product and are therefore not considered damage requiring repair.
If you would like an additional part without the existing part being damaged or having lost its functionality, you can find our selection under Spare Parts.
Are your products suitable for all types of food and beverages?
AYA&IDA’s products – including drinking bottles, CUP2GO, Lunch Box, and Food’ie – are designed for contact with various types of food and beverages.
The products are made of 18/8 stainless steel, a durable and corrosion-resistant material suitable for contact with both hot and cold foods and beverages, including various acidic, fatty, and oily foods and drinks.
Our products have been laboratory tested according to relevant LFGB requirements for food contact. The tests include, among other things, migration testing with food simulants representing different conditions of use and types of food.
Can the bottles get scratched?
The bottles are finished with a durable powder coating that protects against normal wear and tear. However, the coating may become scratched if the bottle is dropped or scraped against hard surfaces.
If there are dents rather than holes or cracks, this will generally not affect the functionality or safety of the bottle, and it can therefore still be used.
Where are the products manufactured?
Our products are manufactured in Zhejiang Province, China, by carefully selected manufacturing partners with whom we work closely. The manufacturers undergo regular social audits through amfori BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative), which cover areas including working conditions, workers’ rights, health, and safety.
We regularly visit the production facilities and continuously assess social and environmental conditions.
Can I recycle my AYA&IDA products?
Both stainless steel and polypropylene are recyclable materials when delivered correctly to appropriate waste-sorting facilities.
Stainless steel bottles can be disposed of as metal waste, while plastic lids should be sorted as hard plastic. Silicone parts should be disposed of as residual waste, depending on local waste-sorting regulations.
How do I clean my AYA&IDA products?
We recommend rinsing the bottles with warm water after each use, especially if the bottle is used to store a liquid other than water. For a deeper clean, we recommend using warm water, mild soap, and a bottle brush.
If you prefer a more natural alternative, you can clean it using a solution made with vinegar and one teaspoon of baking soda.
Once washed, leave the bottles to dry upside down with the cap and bottle opening facing downwards, allowing the water to drain out. This can also be used as a general drying method to prevent the bottle from developing a stale or musty smell.
If you would like more information about cleaning your AYA&IDA product, you can read our Care Guide here.
Can condensation form on the outside of the products?
Our insulated products are double-walled, which reduces temperature transfer to the outside and helps prevent condensation when the product contains cold beverages.
Under normal conditions of use, condensation should therefore not form on the outside.
How long can CUP2GO keep coffee hot?
CUP2GO has been tested to keep coffee hot as follows:
If coffee or tea is added at a temperature of 90°C (both a kettle and Quooker gave us an initial water temperature of 90°C) and the lid is closed immediately, the temperature drops by approximately 10°C every 30 minutes.
This means that the coffee or tea will still be at a comfortable drinking temperature after approximately 1.5–2 hours.
If you prefer to drink your coffee or tea immediately, simply wait a little before putting the lid on. The drinking opening is relatively large, allowing the coffee to cool quickly to the desired temperature.
There can also be significant differences in the initial temperature depending on how the coffee is brewed – whether it is made in a coffee machine, directly into a thermal carafe, or in a traditional glass coffee pot. Some people add cold milk to their coffee, while others use warm milk, so the starting temperatures can vary considerably.
Can I take my bottle on a flight?
Yes, you can. As long as it is empty when you go through security, you can bring your bottle on board.
You will often find a water dispenser at the airport where you can refill it and enjoy cold water during your journey.
What materials do you use to package your orders?
At AYA&IDA, we work to limit the amount of packaging and avoid unnecessary packaging waste. We reuse packaging whenever possible and focus on material choices and packaging quantities when purchasing new packaging.
Our packaging consists of more than 99% paper and cardboard, supplemented by smaller amounts of plastic and cotton where necessary to protect the products during transport.
